When you are unable to make a call when using a
switchboard
A Ingeneral,thedialtoneofaswitchboardoradigital
phone switching system is not continuous unlike that
ofaPSTNline.Therefore,themodemmaynotmake
aphonecallasitmisreadsthedialtoneasabusy
tone.Inthiscase,performthefollowing.
Use the AT Command
AddtheATX3commandforinitialization.
Alternatively,entertheATX3commandrstbefore
makeaphonecall.
Themodemwillnotcheckthedialtonebefore
makingaphonecall.
Conguring the Model in the Control Panel
Click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and
Sound.
Click on Phone and Modem Options.
In the Modemtab,selectaninstalledmodem
and click Properties.
In the ModemtaboftheModemProperties
window,unselecttheMake a phone call after
waiting for a dial toneoption.
Whenthesettingsarecomplete,clicktheOK
button.
If you cannot make a phone call starting with
a0,suchas01432,01421,01433,etc.,thisis
becausetheprivateswitchingsystemissettoblock
longdistancecalls.Askyourswitchingsystem
administrator.

Check if the country setting of the modem is set to
thecurrentcountry.
Since each country has slightly different
telecommunicationvalues,ifthelocationisnotset
tothecorrespondingcountry,themodemmayfailto
makeaphonecall.
Click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and
Sound.
Click on Phone and Modem Options.
In the Dialing Rulestab,clickEdit.
In the GeneraltaboftheEditLocationwindow,
settheCountry/Regiontoyourcurrentcountry,
enter the region code and then click the OK
button.
