Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the vehicle battery.4.4
Connect the black clamp to an unpainted and unmoving part of the vehicle 4.5
chassis or engine block. Do not connect to the carburetor, fuel lines or
sheet-metal body parts.
CAUTION: If you have connected the clamps backwards, an audio alarm
will sound. DO NOT turn the ON/OFF switch to the ON position. This could
cause serious damage. Reverse the connections and the audio alarm will
stop.
Turn the 4.6 JUMP START ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
Turn the key and crank the engine. If the engine does not start within 5-8 4.7
seconds, stop cranking and wait at least 1 minute before attempting to
start vehicle again. This permits the battery to cool down.
After the engine starts, turn the JUMP START ON/OFF switch to OFF.4.8
Disconnect the black clamp rst and then the red clamp. Store the clamps 4.9
on the ears located on the back of the case.
Charge the 750 as soon as possible after jump-starting.4.10
CAUTION: To prevent sparking while the 750 jump-start switch is in the
ON position, NEVER allow the clamps to touch together or to contact the
same piece of metal. And, never attempt to charge a frozen battery.
NOTE: In the rare case of jump-starting a vehicle that has a positive-
grounded vehicle electrical system, connect the black clamp to the
negative terminal of the vehicle battery. Then connect the red clamp to
an unpainted and unmoving part of the vehicle chassis or engine block. If
you are unsure of the nature of the vehicle’s electrical grounding system,
check the owner’s manual of the vehicle or call the Customer Technical
Assistance number: 1-800-SEARS-64.
POWERING A 12V DC DEVICE5.
The Portable Power 750 is a power source for all 12 volt DC accessories
that are equipped with a 12V accessory plug. The DC accessory outlet
has a 15-amp automatic overload protection circuit breaker. The breaker
will automatically reset after an overload occurs.
To operate a 12V DC device:
Open the protective cover of the DC power outlet on the right side of the 5.1
Portable Power 750.
Plug the 12V DC device into the DC power outlet, and turn on the 12V DC 5.2
device (if required).
If the 12V DC device draws more than 15A, the internal circuit breaker of 5.3
the Portable Power 750 will momentarily disconnect power to the device.
If this occurs, unplug the device and the circuit breaker will automatically
reset after several seconds.
