MOON PSX 5.3 Power Supply
Introduction
Your MOON PSX 5.3 Power Supply incorporates many significant design features to enhance the “world class”performance
of your MOON LP
5.3 Phono Preamplifier. This is an abbreviated list of the more important features:
High quality toroidal transformer.
4 stages of DC voltage regulation.
Total capacitance of 35,200uF.
Dual choke inductance (2x 200mH).
Special "pi-type" filter after initial voltage rectification stage to reduce AC transmission noise.
Dual action voltage regulation system to further lower noise.
DC signal noise is 150dB lower within LP5.3 circuitry.
Reduces the LP5.3’s signal-to-noise ratio by over 3dB, regardless of its selected internal gain setting.
Pure copper circuit board tracings with extremely low impedance characteristics.
Accurate matching of the finest high quality electronic components.
Designed to be powered up at all times for optimal performance.
Low operating temperature for a longer than normal life expectancy.
Installation & Placement
The MOON PSX 5.3 requires reasonable ventilation to maintain an optimum and consistent operating temperature. As a
result, it should be placed in a location with empty space around it for proper heat dissipation. As well, it should be placed on
a solid level surface. You should avoid placing it near a heat source or inside a closed cabinet that is well ventilated as this
could compromise this component’s performance and reliability.
You should never place another component directly on top of,
or underneath this Power Supply.
The PSX 5.3 uses a toroidal transformers in its power supply; even though it is well shielded, you should place this power
supply at a minimum distance of 18 inches from source components sensitive to EMI, such as your LP
5.3, turntables, and CD
Players.
