TRF2436EVMOperationalProcedure
TheTRF2436EVMcanbesetupinavarietyofconfigurationstoaccommodateaspecificmodeof
operation.Beforestartinganevaluation,decideontheconfigurationandmaketheappropriate
connectionsorchanges.Thedemonstrationboardcomeswiththefollowingfactory-setconfiguration:

LOinputdrive
TheTRF2436hasbeendesignedtobedrivenwithadifferentialLOinput.Asimplebaluncenteredat~2.6
GHzcanbeusedtoconvertasingle-endedinputfromanRFsourcetoadifferentialpairtoprovidea
differentialLOtotheEVMthroughSMAconnectorsJ3andJ4.
The2436willfunctionifdrivensingle-ended,butitisnotdesignedtooperateinthiscondition,norhasit
beenevaluatedinthiscondition.TodrivetheLOsingle-ended,connectanRFsourcetotheLOPSMA
(J3)andterminatetheLONSMA(J4)inputwith50Ω.
Filtering
TheTRF2436EVMisprovidedwithnofiltering.Themixeroutput,PAinput/LNAoutput,andRF
input/outputpinsarebroughtoutdirectlytoSMAconnectorsontheEVM.Filteringmaybeincorporated
by:
•ConnectinganexternalfiltertoRFANTA(J6)forfilteringafterthePAinTXmodeorbeforetheLNAin
RXmode.
•ConnectinganexternalfilterbetweentheMFA(J8)andRFA(J9)jacksforfilteringbetweenthemixer
andPA/LNAstages
1.Connect+3.3VtoP1andgroundtoP2butdonotturnon.
2.ConnectdifferentialLOsourcetoLOP/LONjacks(oruseexternalbalun).
Settheappropriatefrequencyandpowerlevelbetween0to+4dBm.RememberthatforA-band
operation,theLOinputfrequencyisdoubledinsidetheTRF2436;so,theLOshouldbesettohalfthe
frequencydesiredatthemixerLOport.
3.ConnectanIFsourcetotheIFport.Setto374MHzwithatypicalpowerlevelof–20dBm.

5.SetTR(J13)toalogichigh1.
