TheTexasInstrumentsXIO3130EVMisafunctionalimplementationofafour-portPCIe-to-PCIeswitch.
TheXIO3130EVMwasdesignedtoallowvalidationofthreeseparatefunctionalmodes.Innormalmode,
theEVMisconfiguredasagenericPCIExpress(PCIe)switch.Inhot-plugmode,downstreamports1and
2areconfiguredashot-pluggableslots.InExpressCardmode,allthreedownstreamportsareconfigured
tosupporttheExpressCardadapterboard.Thedifferentfunctionalmodesarediscussedlaterinthis
document.
Figure1-1showstheEVMboard.Therearevariousjumpers,dipswitches,pushbuttons,andLEDsto
supportthevariousfunctionalmodes.Fortheboardtooperate,powermustbeappliedviatheperipheral
powerconnectorlocatedtotherightsideoftheboard.Endpointscanbepluggeddirectlyintoanyoneor
allofthedownstreamports.TheupstreamedgeconnectorcanbepluggedintoanyPCIeslotona
motherboard.OncetheEVMwithattachedendpointsispluggedintoaPCIemotherboardandpoweris
providedtotheEVM,nothingelseneedstobedoneinorderfortheEVMtooperate.ThetwoLEDsinthe
upperright-handcornerlightupwhenpowerisappliedtotheperipheralpowerconnector.
