TheEEPROM(U3)willneedtobereconfiguredforExpressCard-modeoperation.SeeSection1.5foran
explanationofhowtoconfiguretheEEPROM.UpondeassertionofPERSTtheXIO3130willautomatically
readdatafromtheEEPROM.Thisdataisusedtopre-setvariousPCIconfigurationregisterbits.For
ExpressCard-modeoperationthedataintheEEPROMwillconfigurebitsinthefollowingregisters:

and5arenonfunctionalinnormalmode;pressingthepushbuttonshasnoeffectontheXIO3130.
CLKREQ1andCLKREQ2areroutedacrosstheribboncabletotheTPS2231.
WhenplugginginExpressCards,becarefulnottopulltheadapterboardoutofthePCIesocket.Graba
holdoftheupperright-handcorneroftheadapterboardwhileslidingtheExpressCardintothesocket.
SlidetheExpressCardallthewayinuntilitclicksinplace.Afterreleasingthecard,itwillspringbacka
little.ToremovetheExpressCardagain,grabaholdoftheupperright-handcorneroftheadapterboard,
pushthecardintothesocketuntilitclicks,andthengentlyremovethecard.Thespringwillpushthecard
outofthesocket.DonotpulltheExpressCardoutofthesocket–alwayspushinandletthespringpush
thecardout.
WinROMisaTI-developedEEPROMprogrammingutilitythatrunsonWindowsXPorVistaoperating
system.WinROMcanbeusedtoprogramtheEEPROM(U3)ontheXIO3130EVM.Tousetheutility,
installitonthesystemthatcontainstheXIO3130EVM.DoubleclicktheWinROMicontostartthe
program.AdialogboxopensthatshowsalltheTIcontrollerspresentinthesystem(seeFigure1-10).The
XIO3130showsfourentriesinthebushierarchy:oneentryreads"XIO3130"andtheotherthreeentries
read"8322104C."SincetheEEPROMisonlyaccessiblefromtheupstreambridge,thethree"8233104C"
entriesareinred.
