Using a VPN Connection (Windows 2000)
After configuring the connection, follow these steps to establish a connection:
1. Double-click the icon in the
Dial-Up Networking
folder or click the shortcut on your desktop.
2. The
Connect to
window appears. (The name of your connection appears in the title bar.) Type the
User name
and
Password
. If using the domain option, type the
Logon domain
name.
The figure below shows the Connect To screen with (right) and without (left) the domain option.
NOTE:
To avoid entering the password each time, you can save it by checking
Save Password
. The next time you
establish this connection, both
User name
and
Password
are displayed automatically. (The password field is encrypted
for security.) If you are using the domain option, the
Logon domain
will also be saved.

3. Click
Connect
.
4. The
Connecting To
window appears briefly.
5. You can now open your Web browser.
NOTE:
While connected, you can open the
Connected To
window by double-clicking the minimized icon in the task bar.
Disconnecting a VPN Connection (Windows 2000)
Use the following steps to release a VPN connection:
1. If minimized, double-click the connection icon in the task bar.
2. In the
Connected To
window, click
Disconnect
. The VPN connection no longer exists.
