Symptom Cause Solution
The imaging unit is defective.
If the defect occurs in one color only,
replace the corresponding imaging
unit.
Debris in the printer is dragging
against the toner before the
toner is fused.
Remove any paper or debris from the
paper path.
Streaks in multiple colors
There is debris in the transfer belt
unit.
Inspect and clean or replace the
transfer belt unit.
Offset image
Image is printed a second time.
• Verify that the paper you are using
is the correct type for the printer
and is loaded properly. For details,
see Supported Paper on page 52.
• Verify that the paper loaded in the
tray matches the paper type
selected at the control panel and in
the print driver.
To verify paper type at the control
panel, press Machine Status, then
touch Machine Information>Paper
Tray Status.
Note: If the problem continues, select
the next lighter paper type.
• For uncoated paper, the papers
from lightest to heaviest are Plain,
Lightweight Cardstock, and
Cardstock.
• For coated paper, the papers from
lighter to heavier are Lightweight
Glossy Cardstock and Glossy
Cardstock.
Colors align incorrectly
Color has shifted outside the
designated area.
To initiate the color registration cycle,
open and close the rear door.
