Switching, Address Learning
The LBH100A and LBH110A Series units have address table capacity of 2K
node addresses, and are suitable for use in large networks. They are self-learning, so that as
nodes are added or removed or moved from one segment to another, the LBH100- and
LBH110- Series switch automatically keeps up with node locations.
An address-aging algorithm causes least-used addresses to fall out in favor of new
frequently-used addresses. To reset the address buffer, cycle power down-and-up.
4.2 Auto-cross (MDIX), Auto-negotiation and Speed-sensing
The RJ-45 ports independently support auto-cross (MDI or MDIX) in auto-
negotiation mode. No cross-over cable is needed. The ports do the auto-cross selection only
during auto-negotiation, and it will not take effect if the port is in fixed mode (port #2 can
be fixed to FDX on some models). Operation is according to the IEEE 802.3u standard.
When an RJ-45 cable connection is made, and each time a LINK is enabled, auto-
negotiation takes place. The LBH100A and LBH110A Series advertises its capability for
