Diagnostic Light Codes During POST
The following table lists the codes for the diagnostic lights that occur while
the computer is performing the POST.
NOTE: If the computer is turned on and all four diagnostic lights are not on,
see "Diagnostic Light Codes Before POST" on page 33.
Diagnostic Light Codes During POST
Light Pattern Cause Action
Possible BIOS failure, and the computer is in
the recovery mode.
Run the BIOS Recovery utility, and restart the
computer to retest. See "BIOS Recovery Utility"
in the User’s Guide.
If the problem is still not resolved, see "Reset
Corrupted BIOS Settings" in the User’s Guide.
Possible microprocessor failure. See "Microprocessor Problems" in the
User’s Guide.
Possible memory failure. See "System Memory Problems" in the
User’s Guide.
Possible expansion card failure or conflict. See "Expansion-Card Problems" and "Hardware
Conflicts" in the User’s Guide.
Possible video card failure. Reseat the video card, and restart the computer
to retest. For instructions on removing and
installing an expansion card, see "Removing an
Expansion Card" in the User’s Guide.
If the problem is not resolved, see "Expansion-
Card Problems" in the User’s Guide.
If the problem is still not resolved, contact Dell
for technical assistance.
