I clicked Test to discover which
communications port is being
used, and the screen says that
BOOKMAN Sidekick is not
found on my system.
Do the following:
• Make sure that you are using the
Franklin BOOKMAN PC-connect
serial cable. No other cable will
work with your BOOKMAN Side-
kick.
• Make sure the cable is inserted as
far as it will go into the serial port,
and not the headphone jack, on
your BOOKMAN Sidekick. Read
“Special BOOKMAN Features”
for more information.
• Make sure that the cable is prop-
erly connected to a communica-
tions port on your computer.
• Make sure that your BOOKMAN
Sidekick is turned on and
PC Con-
nect
is selected from the Setup
menu on your BOOKMAN Side-
kick.
I do not have the BOOKMAN PC-
connect serial cable or the
BOOKMAN Sidekick Connectiv-
ity software disk.

While installing the BOOKMAN
Sidekick Connectivity software,
I realize that I do not want to
reboot Windows.
Click
Cancel
. This will return you to
the Windows main window.
I have installed the connectivity
software, but I cannot find its
program icon.
The BOOKMAN Sidekick Connec-
tivity icon should appear in the
newly created BOOKMAN program
group. If one or both do not appear,
Install the connectivity software
again. To learn how, read “Installing
the Connectivity Software.”
