Menu Driven Operation Mode:
The Menu Driven Operation Mode is our default Operation Mode and is intended for those less
experienced users of lamination and/or who want a simple menu driven interface that allows
them to select the proper settings easily and quickly for great results every time.
Step 1: Turn the machine on from the switch located in the rear of the machine.
Step 2: The LCD Display will appear and begin to flash and an audible alert will sound once
the machine is turned on (Fig.1).
Step 3: To select the default Menu Driven Mode, press the display button ENTER in which the
pouch Mil thickness (1.5, 3, 5, 7, 10) selection will begin to flash. Using the Up
arrow on the display keypad select the proper pouch Mil thickness setting and then hit
ENTER on the display keypad. (Fig.1)
Step 4: Once the pouch Mil thickness setting is entered the paper type, Copy, Brochure, Photo,
Board, will begin to flash. Following the same procedure as above use the UP arrow to
select the paper type and again press ENTER on the display keypad. (Fig.1)
Step Following the same procedure as previous select one of the icons, No Carrier or Carrier
and press ENTER. (Fig.1)
Step Once the No Carrier/Carrier mode has been selected the machine will begin to warm up.
Once the machine is warmed up a Ready icon will appear in the LCD screen along with an audible
alert. During machine warm up, a Minutes to Ready icon will also be displayed in the LCD. (Fig.1)
Change Settings: If you wish to change your settings simply press and hold the enter button
and the original settings you selected will be cancelled and you will be directed to the beginning
of the Menu Driven Operation Mode., to re-select your settings.
Note: If using 1.5 mil pouches you will automatically default to the use of a pouch carrier prior to
laminating. A pouch carrier is a folded paper sleeve that is occasionally used in some laminating
machines to protect sensitive documents or photos from getting too hot or being damaged during
the lamination process. Pouch carriers are included with GBC® Branded pouches.
Operation, hot lamination
Connect power cord to appropriate power source.
Center the item to be laminated within the pouch left to right with the top edge against the
sealed edge of the pouch (fig.2).
Insert the pouch with the sealed edge first into the machine (fig.3).
The H535 Turbo Laminator has 2 operation modes, “Menu Driven Operation Mode” and
“Manual Operation Mode” (fig.1). For most items being laminated the menu driven mode
will be the default and provide a professional result, however, temperature settings will
vary due to the finish, chemistry and heat absorption properties of the material being
laminated. If the laminated pouch is cloudy after the first pass through the machine, run
pouch through on the manual operation mode (see Manual Operation Mode) and increase
temperature to the next higher temperature setting and run it through the laminator again
at the higher temperature. If waviness occurs, reduce the temperature to the next lower
position and run through a new pouch and item to be laminated. Always allow sufficient
time for the laminator temperature to adjust to the changes made to the settings. It is
always best to run through a test item to be laminated to assure the results you are seeking.
The laminated item will automatically exit at the rear of the machine. After the pouch
has stopped moving, carefully remove from the machine and place on a cool flat surface for
approximately one minute for cooling (fig.4).
If you are finished laminating push the power switch to turn the machine off.

laminating temperature by using the Up arrows display button. Once you have reached the
desired temperature press the Enter. The heat settings can be manually adjusted in 10 degree
increments.
Step 3: Once the desired temperature is selected press Enter on the display pad and you will
directed to the Speed icon. Using the Up arrow select the laminating speed and hit enter.
Step 4: Now select the desired laminating speed by again using the Up arrow. Once the
desired speed has been reached press Enter. Note: there are 21 speed settings and 21 being the
fastest speed.

will not be used by selecting either the No Carrier or Carrier icons. Once Step 5 is complete the
machine will begin to warm up.
Change Settings: To change heat and or temperature settings in the Manual Mode once the
machine has begun to warm up simply press the Up or Down arrow buttons and the machine will
stop and these settings will begin to flash. Follow the same procedure as previous to change the
heat and laminating speed settings.
Note: The “Minutes to Ready” icon will display within the LCD once the machine begins to warm
up, showing how many minutes are left before the machine is ready to laminate. Once the
machine is ready the “Ready” icon will display and an audible alert sound.

Other Operational Features:
Reverse Function:
This machine is equipped with a Reverse function. If a pouch is incorrectly inserted or misfed
and you need to remove the pouch as it is laminating, press the REV Button on the keypad to
reverse the rollers and return the pouch, while gently pulling the pouch from the front of the
machine. After the document is out of the machine and if the pouch was run through without a
carrier, clean the rollers by running the cleaning sheet through the laminator.
Caution: Use caution when removing the laminated pouch
from the machine. It may be hot.
Auto Shut-off:
The H535 Turbo is equipped with an auto shut-off function after the machine has been inactive
for 60 minutes.
Carrier or Non-Carrier:
The H535 Turbo is designed to operate with or without a carrier dependant upon the user’s
choice, the thickness of the pouch used and the item being laminated. The only exception is
when running a 1.5 Mil pouch thickness the machine will automatically default to a carrier heat
setting. Please note that the heat settings do increase when running at the carrier heat setting
and failure to use a carrier on this setting may default in a pouch jam or poor results of the
laminated item and thus void your warranty on the machine.
Minutes to Ready: (patent pending)
The H535 is equipped with a “Minutes to Ready” function which indicates the amount of time it
will take for the machine to warm up by counting down the minutes. Once the machine is ready
to laminate the minutes to ready will display “Ready” in the LCD display and an audible alert
will sound.
Counter:
The H535 is equipped with a counter function that counts the number of pouches that have been
laminated through the machine. The counter can be reset by holding the arrow Down arrow for
3 seconds.
Temperature Setting Conversion:
Within the temperature setting the user has the ability to toggle between a setting that is
reflected in Fahrenheit or Celsius by simply holding the arrow Up button in for 3 seconds.
Memory Function:
The H535 Turbo has a memory function that includes 9 settings numbered 1-9. The memory
function can be set in either the Menu Driven Operation Mode or the Manual Operation Mode.
To set the memory function from either of the two modes, identify the heat setting, paper type
temperature and speed you wish to save to memory and then simply push and hold the Display
Button MEM until the first available number flashes, then press the display button ENTER. There
are 9 memory settings in total. Should all memory settings be filled and you wish to OVERWRITE,
a currently used memory setting simply press display button MEM, and use the display buttons
with the Arrows Up or Down to select the memory number to overwrite (an overwrite icon will
appear) and press display button ENTER. To start the machine warm up using the saved memory
functions, simply turn on the machine and using the display buttons with the Arrows Up or Down,
scroll down to the MEMORY icon display on the LCD screen, press the display button ENTER, and
then again using the display button Arrow Up or Down buttons select the memory setting
you wish to use and then press the display button ENTER.
