Step 7. Updating your computer configuration
After you have completed the hardware installation, restart your computer.
Usually, the configuration-setup information screen is displayed when you turn
on your computer. If you do not see this screen, check your computer
documentation for information about accessing the configuration or setup
utility program.
To see the configuration information for most IBM computers, press F1 during
startup when the IBM graphic is displayed in the upper-right corner of the
screen. When you have finished reviewing the information, save the changes
and exit.
Step 8. Installing the CD-RW and DVD software
There are three software applications that you must install in order to use the
CD-RW and DVD video functions of your drive. All of these are included on
the IBM CD-RW & DVD-ROM Software and User’s Guide CD.
The IBM CD-RW & DVD-ROM Software and User’s Guide CD contains the
following software applications:
v Mediamatics DVD Express, to support DVD video playback
v Veritas MyCD, to support traditional CD authoring
v Veritas Drive Letter Access (DLA), to support drag-and-drop CD recording
To install these applications, perform the following steps:
1. Insert the IBM CD-RW & DVD -ROM Software and User’s Guide CD into
your CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combination Drive. A browser automatically
starts.
2. If the browser does not start, open a command window and enter the
following for each application, where e is the drive letter of your
CD-RW/DVD Combination Drive:
v DVD Express - e:\DVDPLAYR\SETUP.EXE
v Veritas DLA - e:\RECORDER\DLA\SETUP.EXE
v Veritas MyCD - e:\RECORDER\MYCD\SETUP.EXE
3. In the browser, click Install MyCD, click Install DLA, and then click
Install DVD Express.
4. Restart the operating system on your computer.
