Device Test Procedures
Follow the procedure in Table 3-2 for a Device Test.
The DTE and network cables are not required to be
connected to the DSU to do this test. However, the DSU
must be powered.
Device Test Results
If, at the conclusion of the Device Test, the PASS
indicator is lit, then the DSU has passed the test and has a
very high probability of not being the source of trouble. If
the FAIL indicator is lit, the DSU has failed the Device
Test and should be replaced.

1. Press the LL test switch. LL indicator lights. TEST flashes for 6 seconds and then remains
ON.
2. Press the TP test switch. TP indicator lights. TXD and RXD indicators flash.

If errors are
detected, the FAIL indicator flashes or remains ON. After about
30 seconds, the TEST finishes and PASS or FAIL appears. TXD
and RXD continue to flash.
3. Press the TP test switch. TP indicator goes Off. TXD and RXD indicators now show
interface lead status.
4. Press the RL test switch. RL indicator goes Off. TEST flashes for 6 seconds and goes Off.
5. Press the LL test switch. LL indicator goes Off. TEST flashes for about 6 seconds, then
goes off.

During this test, TXD, LSD, and RXD DTE interface indicators monitor internal versions of the
corresponding interface lead.
