3500 Series Indicators and Switches
Name FunctionDefinition
PASS Pass This green indicator lights if the DSU has
completed a device test without a failure. The
indicator remains on until another key is
pressed.
FAIL/STR/DSBL
(3510)
Dsbl/Fail (3511)
Failure/Error/Streaming/Disable This red indicator performs four functions:
FAIL/Dsbl (3510/3511) – Indicator lights at
the end of a Device Test if the test was not
successful. The indicator remains ON until
another key is pressed.
Fail (3511) – This indicator rapid flashes
during Test Pattern when errors are detected.
DSBL (3510) – Indicator lights if the DSU has
been disabled.
STR (3510) – Indicator slow flashes when a
streaming terminal alarm condition exists.
(NOTE: The RTS indicator will also be ON.)
TP Test Pattern This yellow indicator lights when the test pattern
generator/comparator circuit is active. Press the
TP pushbutton switch to generate a local test
pattern.
LL Local Loopback This yellow indicator lights when the DSU is in
local loopback. Press the LL pushbutton switch
to initiate a local loopback test.
DL Digital Loopback This yellow indicator lights when the DSU is
performing a digital loopback or a channel
loopback. Press the DL pushbutton switch to
initiate a local digital or channel loopback test.
RL Remote Loopback This yellow indicator lights when a remote digital
loopback has been requested of the remote
DSU. Press the RL pushbutton switch to initiate
a digital loopback test at the remote end.

Transmit Data This green indicator is steady-ON when MARKS
are transmitted, goes Off when spaces are
transmitted, and flashes at a steady rate when
variable data are transmitted.
RXD (104)

Receive Data This green indicator is steady-ON when marks
are being received, goes Off when spaces are
received, and blinks at a steady rate when
variable data are received.
