ThissectiondescribesthesoftwarefeaturesaccompanyingtheEVMkit.TheTIADCSPIcontrolsoftware
providesfullcontroloftheSPIinterface,allowinguserstowritetoanyoftheADCregistersfoundinthe
ADCdatasheet.FormostADS61xx/ADS61B23performanceevaluations,usersdonotneedtousetheTI
SPIcontrolsoftwaretogetevaluationresults.UsersonlyneedtousetheADCSPIcontrolsoftwarewhen
thedesiredfeatureisinaccessiblebecausetheADCisinparallelinterfacemode.
TheADCSPIcontrolsoftwarecanbeinstalledonapersonalcomputerbyrunningthesetup.exefile
locatedontheCD.Thisfileinstallsthegraphicaluserinterface(GUI)alongwiththeUSBdriversneeded
tocommunicatetotheUSBportthatresidesontheEVM.AfterthesoftwareisinstalledandtheUSB
cablehasbeenpluggedinforthefirsttime,theuserispromptedtocompletetheinstallationoftheUSB
drivers.Whenprompted,usersshouldallowtheWindows
®
operatingsystemtosearchfordevicedrivers,
anditshouldautomaticallyfindtheTIADCSPIinterfacedrivers.SeeFigure1.
Note:BeforepluggingintheUSBcableforthefirsttime,installtheTIADCSPIsoftware.The
softwareinstallsthedriversnecessaryforUSBcommunication.
