4 Configuring iSCSI targets
The disks you create by using iSCSI Software Target are iSCSI virtual disks, which are files in
the fixed virtual hard disk (VHD) format.
You must perform the following tasks to configure your iSCSI targets:
– Section 4.1 Creating an iSCSI target, page 23
– Section 4.2 Creating a simple volume, page 24
– Section 4.3 Creating a virtual disk, page 26
– Section 4.4 Modifying iSCSI LUN settings, page 27
4.1 Creating an iSCSI target
1. Click Start and click Server Manager.
2. Expand Storage, expand Microsoft iSCSI Software Target, and then click iSCSI Targets.
3. Right-click iSCSI Targets and click Create iSCSI Targets.
The Create iSCSI Target Wizard dialog box is displayed.
4. Click Next>.
5. In the iSCSI target name field, type the desired name.
– Type a description of the new iSCSI target if desired.
– Click Next>.
6. In the IQN identifier field type *.
