Intelligent Manageability
Installing Intelligent Manageability
The Intelligent Manageability application is on the Compaq
application recovery CD. This CD is included with notebooks
that ship with the Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP
Professional operating systems.
Instructions for installing an application from the Compaq
application recovery CD are included with the CD. The
instructions are provided in several, but not all, languages.
Setting Up Insight Management Agents
When the notebook is restarted after installing the Intelligent
Manageability application, a Setup Management Agent icon
and a Compaq Information Center icon with Intelligent
Manageability links are displayed on the Desktop.

To set up Insight Management Agents, select the Setup
Compaq Management Agent icon.

To learn more about Insight Management Agents and to
access instructions for using them and other Intelligent
Manageability features, select Start > Compaq Information
Center > Intelligent Manageability.
Using Fault Management Alerts
Identifying a Fault Management Alert
The notebook is preset to monitor several hardware components.
If problems are found, the following alerts may display:

The hard drive alert warns up to 72 hours in advance of
impending hard drive problems and can be set to initiate a
software backup.
