Removing The Power Supply Unit
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only
perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as
directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is
not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions
that came with the product.
1. Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals.
2. Disconnect the power cable from the power source.
3. Disconnect the power cable from the power supply and remove the straps that bundle and secure
the system cables.
4. Open the system.
5. Disconnect all the power cables from the power supply to the system board, hard drives, and optical
drive.
6. If applicable, remove the 2.5 inch/3.5 inch hard-drive cage to remove the cables secured by the wire
routing latch.
7. Remove the screw securing the power supply to the chassis, slide and lift the power supply out of
the chassis.
