RMON is an industry accepted standard for performance monitoring of re-
mote LANs. If the RMON agent supports the key groups, it can be a
powerful tool to detect potential network performance degradation before it
gets out of control. Increasing network availability for the user and the in-
crease in productivity of network administrators are key benefits of
implementing RMON technology.
Statistics
The
Statistics
group contains statistics measured by the probe for each
monitored Ethernet interface on the hub. These statistics take the form of
free running counters that start from zero when a valid entry is created. This
group consists of the items in the Statistics Table. Each entry in the Statistics
table contains statistics for one Ethernet interface.
