Fingerprint reader board (includes bracket and cable) 685410-001
Before removing the fingerprint reader board, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.

Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 50), and then remove the following components:
a. Service cover (see

b. Bluetooth module (see
Bluetooth module on page 54)
c. Speaker assembly (see
Speaker assembly on page 56)
d. Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 57)
e. Hard drive (see
Hard drive on page 58)
f. Fan (see
Fan on page 60)
g. WWAN module (see
WWAN module on page 61)
h. Modem module (see
Modem module on page 68)

j. Base enclosure (see

Remove the fingerprint reader board:
1. Remove the Phillips PM2.0×3.6 screw (1) that secures the fingerprint reader board bracket to the
top cover.
2. Remove the fingerprint reader board bracket (2).
