Cleaning Battery Terminals
ƽ WARNING
Most batteries are not sold with instructions. However, warnings are frequently
noted on the cell caps. Read them carefully.
DO NOT allow the liquid in the battery to come in contact with skin, clothes or
other possessions. It is a form of acid and harmful or damaging burns may result.
Should the liquid touch your skin, wash the area IMMEDIATELY and thoroughly
with cool water. In serious cases or if eye contact is made, seek medical attention
IMMEDIATELY.
1. Examinebatteryterminalsforcorrosion.
2. Verifytheplasticcapsareinplaceoverbatterycellholes.
3. Cleanterminalsbyusingabatterycleaningtool,wirebrush,ormediumgradesand
paper.
NOTE:Uponcompletion,areasshouldbeshiny,notdull.
4. Carefullydustoffallmetalparticles.
Removing/Installing the Batteries From/Into the
Wheelchair
Removing the Front Shroud/Battery Retention Bracket and Rear
Shroud
CAUTION
Place the wheelchair in a well ventilated area where work can be performed
without risking damage to carpeting or floor covering.
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 10.2onpage 58.
1. VerifythejoystickOn/OffswitchisintheOffposition.
2. Remove thethreemountingscrewsthatsecuretherearshroudtothewheelchair.
3. Remove therearshroudfromthewheelchair.
NOTE:Thefrontshroudandbatteryretentionbracketareremovedfromandinstalledontothe
wheelchairframeasasingleunit.
4. Remove thetwomountingscrewssecuringthefrontshroud/batteryretentionbracket
tothewheelchair.
5. WheelchairswithFootboardsOnly:Removethemountingscrewandwashersecuring
thefootboardsupporttothewheelchairframe.
6. Liftuptounhookthebatteryretentionbracketfromthewheelchairframeandremove
thefrontshroud/batteryretentionbracketfromthewheelchair.
