6. Insert the notched end 2 of the new memory module into the slot 1 . Press the memory module
rmly and pivot the memory module until it snaps into place. Make sure that the memory module is
secured in the slot and does not move easily.

Your computer has a special type of memory that maintains the date, time, and settings for built-in features,
such as parallel-port assignments (conguration). A battery keeps this information active when you turn
off the computer.
