Problem:
You cannot change or remove a hard disk password in the BIOS Setup
Utility.
Solution:
A hard disk password can be changed or removed only if the setting of
Using Passphrase in the BIOS Setup Utility - enabled or disabled - is the
same as it was when you set the password.
If the Hard Disk x Password menu in the BIOS Setup Utility is grayed out
and unavailable:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Uninstall the HDD or SSD.
3. With the HDD or SSD uninstalled, turn on the computer. When the
ThinkPad logo comes up, immediately press F1 to enter the BIOS Setup
Utility.
4. Remove all other passwords.
5. Set Using Passphrase as enabled or disabled, whichever was its setting
when you set the hard disk password.
6. Save the change and exit the BIOS Setup Utility.
7. Turn off the computer.
8. Reinstall the HDD or SSD.
9. Turn on the computer and enter the BIOS Setup Utility to change or
remove the hard disk password.
Problem:
When you compress files or folders by use of the data compression function
in Windows, and then decompress them, the process of writing to or reading
from the files or folders is slow.
Solution:
Apply the disk defragmentation tool in Windows for faster access to the
data.
