CAUTION:
The memory module might be very hot. Turn off the computer and wait three to ve
minutes to let the computer cool before opening the computer cover.
This section provides instructions on how to replace the memory module.
Removing the memory module
To remove the memory module, do the following:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Disconnect all cables, power cords, and external options from your computer. See “Locating connectors
on the rear of your computer” on page 68.
3. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or surface. Hold the sides of your computer and gently lay
it down so that the screen is against the surface and the cover is facing up.
4. Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the computer cover” on page 74.
5. Locate the memory module on the system board. See “Locating parts on the system board” on page 71.
6. Push down the retaining clip 2 on each end of the memory module slot and lift the memory module
1 out of the slot.
Installing a memory module
To install a memory module, do the following:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Disconnect all cables, power cords, and external options from your computer. See “Locating connectors
on the rear of your computer” on page 68.
3. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or surface. Hold the sides of your computer and gently lay
it down so that the screen is against the surface and the cover is facing up.
4. Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the computer cover” on page 74.
5. Replace the memory module by aligning the notch on the memory module with the key in the slot.
