Getting to Know the 8-Port
EtherFast Cable/DSL Router
The 8-Port Router’s Rear Panel
The rear panel of the Router is where all of the Router’s connections are
made.
The 8-Port Router’s Ports
WA N The WAN (Wide Area Network) Port is where you
will connect your cable or DSL modem.
Ports 1-8 These eight LAN (Local Area Network) ports are
where you will connect networked devices, such as
PCs, print servers, remote hard drives, and any-
thing else you want to put on your network.
Uplink Toggle The Uplink Toggle allows you to manually select
Port Eight as an Uplink Port so that you can
expand your network by connecting to another
switch or hub. Uplinking to another Router, switch
or hub is done by simply selecting the crossed set-
ting and running a cable from Port Eight to the
device.
