To return to Normal mode, press any key.
✍ When the computer is in Standby mode, you cannot insert a disc.
Standby requires less time than Hibernate.
Standby uses more power than Hibernate.
Using Hibernate mode
The state of the system is saved on the hard disk and power is turned off. The power indicator light is off in
this mode.
To activate Hibernate mode, proceed as follows:
1 Go to Start and click Turn Off Computer.
2 Hold down the <Shift> key and press Hibernate.
To return to Normal mode, press the power button. The computer returns to its previous state.
✍ If you press the power button for longer than 4 seconds, the computer will turn off.
When the computer is in Hibernate mode, you cannot insert a disc.
Hibernate mode requires more time than Standby mode.
Hibernate mode uses less power than Standby mode.
Entering Hibernate mode with the <Fn> key
You can choose to use the shortcuts <Fn>+<Esc>, or <Fn>+<F12> to enter Hibernate mode instead of
Standby mode.
To change the default settings, proceed as follows:
1 Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
2 Select the Advanced tab.
3 Make your settings under Power buttons.
