Communicating without an Access Point (computer-to-computer)
A computer-to-computer network is a network in which a local network is created only by the wireless devices themselves, with no
other central controller or Access Point. Each device communicates directly with other devices in the network. You can set up a
computer-to-computer network easily at home.
To communicate without an Access Point (computer-to-computer), proceed as follows:
1 Turn on the wireless switch.
If your computer supports Bluetooth, the Wireless Device Switch dialog box appears.
Select the Enable 2.4 GHz Wireless LAN check box and deselect the Enable Bluetooth Device check box, then click the OK
button.
The Wireless LAN indicator lights up.
2 Right-click the network icon in the taskbar displaying Wireless Network Connection.
3 Click View Available Wireless Networks.
The Wireless Network Connection dialog box appears.
4 Click the Change advanced settings link.
The Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box appears.
5 Select the Wireless Networks tab.
6 Click the Add button.
The Wireless network properties dialog box appears.
7 Enter a Network name (SSID)*.
8 Select Open from the Network Authentication drop-down box.
9 Select WEP from the Data Encryption drop-down box if you want to use data encryption.
10 Deselect the The key is provided for me automatically option button.
Some information becomes visible.
11 Fill in the Network key*.
