Connecting the Modem Cable
Your computer is equipped with a single modem line jack to connect the supplied
modem cable to your telephone wall jack. To use your wall jack for your
telephone and modem lines, purchase a “1-to-2” jack adapter device (splitter).
To connect the telephone and modem cables
1 Unplug your telephone cable from the wall jack.
2 Insert the telephone cable into one of the RJ-11 jacks on a splitter device
(optional).
3 Insert one end of the modem cable (supplied) into the other RJ-11 jack on the
splitter device.
4 Insert the plug end of the splitter device into the wall jack.
5 Plug the modem cable into the modem line jack on the computer.
Connecting the modem cable
Your computer has a protective sticker covering the Ethernet port.
Connect only 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX cables to the Ethernet port. Using
other cables or a telephone cable may result in an electric current overload
that can cause a malfunction, excessive heat, or fire in the port. For help on
connecting to a network, see your network administrator.
