Initializing Disk Drives
Please be sure to initialize a disk drive before creating an array.
Caution: Initializing a disk will overwrite the partition table on the disk, making
any data on the disk inaccessible. If the drive is used in an array, you may not
be able to use the array again. You will also need to initialize a disk drive that is
attached to a controller before using the disk drive in an array.
Do not initialize a disk that is part of a boot array since disk initialization will
overwrite the data stored inside the disk. Refer to the item "Viewing Array Prop-
erties" to determine which disks are associated with a particular array.
To initialize Disk drives
1. Turn on your computer. When prompted, press <Ctrl> and <A> to access the
Adaptec RAID Utility.
2. From the RAID Confi guration menu (Figure 3.1), select "Array Confi gura-
tion Utility" and press <Enter>. The Array Confi guration Utility Main Menu (as
shown above) will display.
