Connect the interface cables
Included here is an overview of the printer ports. If you are connecting the
printer directly to your computer, refer to “Connecting to the parallel port” on
page 18. If you are connecting the printer to a network, refer to the PhaserShare
Networking Setup Guide.

Plus, Duplex, and Extended Configurations include a SCSI port; Standard
Configurations require the Z740FP Kit for SCSI support.
The printer is shipped with two interface ports on the printer’s rear panel.
Optionally, it supports a SCSI port and one of three optional PhaserShare
®
network cards. All ports and network protocols are simultaneously active.
1. Ethernet
standard 10BASE-T interface

2. Parallel
standard Standard (bi-directional) parallel port
Refer to “Connecting to the parallel port” on page 18.
3. SCSI
optional For optional peripheral devices
Refer to “Connecting a SCSI peripheral device” on page 19 and
“Connecting peripheral devices” on the printer’s CD-ROM or web site.
4. PhaserShare Card
optional 10/100BASE-T, Token Ring, or LocalTalk
