TheCDCE421isahigh-performance,lowphasenoiseclockgenerator.Ithastwofullyintegrated,
low-noise,liquidcrystal(LC)-basedvoltage-controlledoscillators(VCOs)thatoperateinthe
1.75GHz–2.35GHzrange.
TheCDCE421hasanintegratedcrystaloscillatorcircuitrythatoperatesinconjunctionwithanexternal
AT-cutcrystaltoproduceastablefrequencyreferenceforthePLL-basedfrequencysynthesizer.A3.3V
LVCMOSlevelinputcanalsobeusedinsteadofacrystaltoprovideaPLLfrequencyreference.
Theevaluationmodule(EVM)isdesignedtoquicklydemonstratetheelectricalperformanceofthedevice.
Thisfullyassembledandfactory-testedEVMallowscompletevalidationofalldevicefunctionsforavariety
ofapplications.Throughoutthisdocument,theacronymEVMandthephrasesevaluationmoduleand
evaluationboardaresynonymouswiththeCDCE421EVM.Figure1illustratestheCDCE421EVM.
