About the Firmware
The “firmware” is a small piece of software built into the CRW6416SX drive, and
is used to control its basic operation. Since it resides in flash memory, it can be
overwritten and updated.
To ensure the correct operation of the CRW6416SX drive, updates to the
firmware will be made available. You can find information about the most recent

Determining the firmware version of the CRW6416SX drive
(in Windows 95/98)
Go to Control Panel | System | Device Manager tab, double-click on CDROM, then
double-click on Yamaha CRW6416S.
Macintosh Users
Use your CD writing software to check the firmware version of your
CRW6416SX drive. For details on how to use the software, see the
documentation that came with it.
SCSI ID number
When updating
the CRW6416SX
drive’s firmware,
you will need to
enter its SCSI ID
