Connecting the drive to a USB 1.1 port
If the CRW-70 drive is connected to a USB 1.1 port, which is one of the
typical USB ports installed as standard on computers, the drive operates in
accordance with USB 1.1 standard.
For reliable data writing, Buffer Underrun Protection should be activated
and the writing speed should be set to 8X on the CD writing software.
With a USB 1.1 port, the data reading speed is 6X at maximum.
USB cable
Use the USB cable provided.
According to USB specifications, the maximum length for cables connecting
devices is 5 m.
Be sure to connect the drive to the USB port of the computer. If you connect the drive
to the computer via a USB hub, the drive may not operate properly.
Operating system (OS)
Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Me, Windows 2000 Professional, or
Windows XP
For Windows 98 Second Edition, install the device drivers provided (storage class
drivers) in the computer. For details, refer to the separate manual “Device Driver
Installation Guide,” that came with the CRW-70 drive.
The CRW-70 drive cannot be used with a system that has been booted in MS-
DOS or Safe mode.
CD writing software
The CRW-70 drive requires CD writing software to write onto a CD-R/RW
disc. Use the CD writing software that came with the CRW-70 drive. If you
use different CD writing software, consult the manufacturer of the CD
writing software to check the compatibility with the CRW-70 drive.

documentation that came with it.
