1 GENERAL
This section describes how the PatchSwitch equipment functionally operates in a data
communications network. The PS equipment provides two main functions. A user selects one of
two DTE data channels to connect to a DCE. Additionally, the user can monitor and restore data
channels with a manual patch.
2 PATCHING WITH IN-LINE A/B SWITCHING
A functional diagram illustrating patching with in-line A/B switching is shown in Figure 2-1.
Computer access is through the COMPUTER patch cord jack and either the DTE-A or DTE-B
jack. Modem connection is through the MODEM patch cord jack and the DCE jack. Monitor
connection is through the MONITOR patch cord jack.
