Using the Internal Modem

Basic operation
After you connect the modular cable to your internal modem
and a telephone line, you are ready to run your
communication software. Refer to your software
documentation for instructions on operating your internal
modem.
As examples, this section describes how to execute basic
modem operations by typing AT commands directly into the
communication software program. You must be in terminal
mode to enter the AT commands. Refer to your software
documentation or online help.
Connecting to a telephone line
The AT commands for connecting to a telephone line depend
on whether you are using a direct line or an extension line,
such as in an office building.
Direct access line
To place a call using tone dialing, enter:
ATDT******* and press Enter.
The asterisks * indicate the number you are calling.
To place a call using pulse dialing, enter:
ATDP******* and press Enter.
The asterisks * indicate the number you are calling.
