2.15.1 JENV V5.0
*3 BS2000/OSD with the JENV V5.0 component has been certified as
*3 JAVA COMPATIBLE by Sun Microsystems, Inc. This provides the
*3 assurance that Java programs can run on BS2000/OSD without re-
*3 compilation or other modifications.
*3 The current version 5.0 of the Environment for Java fulfils the
*3 relevant specifications:
*3 - “The Java Language Specification, Third Edition”
*3 - “The Java Virtual Machine Specification, Second Edition”
*3 - the version-specific API specification “Java 2 Platform Stan-
*3 dard Edition API Specification 5.0”
*3 The conformity to these specifications was approved by Sun Micro-
*3 systems Inc. by the grant of the “Java Compatible”-Logo for the
*3 Fujitsu Siemens BS2000/OSD Environment for Java
TM
V5.0
*3 (on 10/08/2005).
*3 Java Development Kit V5.0 is supplied as an optimized variant for
*3 the particular hardware, together with the BS2000/OSD basic con-
*3 figuration. The JDK gives programmers a basic tool for developing
*3 Java applications.
*3 It comprises:
*3 - HotSpot compiler
*3 - Java interpreter
*3 - Debugger
*3 - Java class libraries
*3 - Various other tools
*3 In addition, JENV(BS2000/OSD) V5.0 includes the JRIO package.
*3 This package is a collection of Java classes for native access
*3 to record- and/or block-structure files and for record- or
*3 block-oriented input/output with respect to such files. JENV V5.0
*3 supports the files of the BS2000 data management system.
*3 JENV V5.0 was released in 2006, January and henceforth is con-
*3 tained in new BS2000/OSD-BC V6.0 shipments.
