Fibre Channel signals travel from a HP ProLiant BL20p server blade series and/or HP ProLiant BL30p
server blades series through the server blade enclosure backplane. Fibre Channel signals are terminated
through the RJ-45 Patch Panel 2 CGESM or GbE2 Interconnect Switch (with Storage Connectivity Kit) in
the interconnect bays. To provide redundancy each server blade has two Fibre Channel signals; one
Fibre Channel signal terminates through the right interconnect, the other Fibre Channel signal terminates
through the left interconnect.
Eight Fibre Channel small form factor pluggable (SPF) transceiver cages exist on the front of each RJ-45
Patch Panel 2 and rear of each GbE2 Interconnect Switch (16 Fibre Channel connections per server
blade enclosure). The SPF cages are used for insertion of SPF transceivers included with the HP ProLiant
BL20p G2 Dual-port Fibre Channel Mezzanine Card and the HP ProLiant BL30p Dual-Port Fibre
Channel Adapter.
