The scan direction is referred to as X. X1 is
the scan direction for a single-sided page or
for the second side of a two-sided page. X2
is the scan direction for the first side of a two-
sided page.
The feed direction is referred to as Y. Y1 is
the feed direction for a single-sided page or
for the second side of a two-sided page. Y2
is the feed direction for the first side of a two-
sided page.

Sets the sensing option for Tray 1 for paper
types using AUTO SENSE mode.
When FULL SENSING is selected, the
product senses every page and switches
modes accordingly. The product can
distinguish light paper, plain paper, heavy
paper, glossy paper, tough paper, or
transparencies. Using this mode
significantly reduces print speed. Use it only
when you are printing on mixed paper types.
When EXPANDED SENSING is selected,
the product senses only the first page and
assumes the rest of the pages are the same
type. The product can distinguish light
paper, plain paper, heavy paper, glossy
paper, tough paper, or transparencies.
When TRANSPARENCY ONLY is selected,
the product senses only the first page. The
product can distinguish transparencies from
other paper types.

Sets the sensing option for Trays 2-5 for
paper types using AUTO SENSE mode.
When EXPANDED SENSING is selected,
the product senses only the first few pages
and assumes the rest of the pages are the
same type. The product can distinguish light
paper, plain paper, heavy paper, glossy
paper, tough paper, or transparencies. The
product senses the paper type when you
turn it on and after you open and close a tray.
When TRANSPARENCY ONLY is selected,
the product senses only the first page. The
product can distinguish transparencies from
other paper types.
