Splotchy area fill
Try using Best mode. If the problem persists, clean, calibrate, or replace cartridges.
Adjust cartridge preheat as described in Chapter 2.
Excessive banding in area fills
Consistent banding is generally a hardware problem; inconsistent banding is generally a
software problem.
Change the Print Mode option to Best or Enhanced. (See "Print Modes" in Chapter
2.)
Clean, calibrate, or replace cartridges.
Adjust cartridge preheat as described in Chapter 2.
Portions of lines are missing
Clean, calibrate, or replace cartridges.
Clean service station; clean cartridge again; repeat prime.
Clean carriage flex cable and cartridge electrical contacts; repeat prime. Do not use
alcohol, acetone, or other cleansers. Use a cotton swab moistened in distilled water.
Use tap water if distilled water is not available.
Poor vertical or horizontal line quality
Perform color calibration. (See Quick Start Guide.)
Data Transfer
Printer doesn’t generate a print
Be sure your printer is connected to the port to which you are sending the file.
If you are printing over a network, you will need to determine whether the problem is in
the network. Try connecting the printer directly to your computer and send the file
again.
Parallel printing doesn’t work
Some UNIX workstations have difficulty communicating with the printer using a
parallel connection. Try connecting the printer to the network using a network interface
box.
