Does the finger sensor
on my terminal need to
be cleaned routinely?
Depending on the amount of use, the reader window
may need to be cleaned from time to time. It will
pick up dirt and salts from fingers. To clean the
sensor window, apply the sticky side of a piece of
adhesive cellophane tape on the window and peel it
away.
I have a terminal with an
optical sensor that’s been
scratched or damaged.
Does this effect the
operation? What should I
do if this occurs?
Scratches, pokes or other physical damage to the
sensor window coating can affect the terminal’s
ability to read fingerprints. Such damage cannot be
repaired. Please contact your dealer or our help desk
for information on purchasing a replacement unit.
Why is the finger sensor
not reading the
employee’s finger when I
try to enroll an employee
or when an employee
tries to punch on the
terminal?
Make sure:
-The terminals cable is firmly plugged into the
computers USB port.
-The employee’s finger is correctly placed on the
finger sensor. (See Chapter 20).
-If the finger is too dry, breathe on it or have the
employee touch the finger to his forehead or side of
his nose and then place his finger on the finger
sensor. The oils will help the sensor to correctly read
the ridges and valleys of the fingerprint.
-If the finger is too moist, have the employee rub his
finger on their pants or sleeve, then place his finger
on the finger sensor.
No matter how the
employee places his
finger on the finger
sensor, it will not read
his fingerprint. What
should I do?
Try re-enrolling the employee’s finger, if that doesn’t
work enroll a different finger
Does the computer have
to be on all the time,
with the USB terminal
connected?
Yes. The USB terminal must be connected to the
computer and the computer must be on in order for
the USB terminal to be operational. The USB
terminal will stop functioning when it is unplugged
from the computer or when the computer is turned
off.
