7. Reinstall any internal parts that have been removed.
8. Reinstall the server cover and reconnect the cables. See “Completing the parts replacement” on
page 57.
9. Turn on the server and all attached devices.
Note: When the server is turned on for the rst time after replacing the battery, an error message might
be displayed. This is normal after replacing the battery.
10. Use the Setup Utility program to set the date, time, and any passwords. See Chapter 8 “Conguring
the server” on page 77

Installing or replacing a memory module
Attention
Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter 1 “About this

This section provides instructions on how to install or replace a memory module.
Your server has four slots for installing or replacing memory modules. When installing or replacing a memory
module, use the following guidelines:
Use DDR3 ECC UDIMMs for your server.
Use 1 GB, 2 GB, or 4 GB memory modules in any combination up to a maximum of 16 GB system memory.
Install memory modules in the sequence of DIMM 1, DIMM 2, DIMM 3, and DIMM 4. See “System-board
internal connectors” on page 25
.
To install or replace a memory module, do the following:
