6. Insert the notched end 2 of the new memory module into the slot 1 . Press the memory module
rmly and pivot the memory module until it snaps into place. Make sure that the memory module is
secured in the slot and does not move easily.

Your computer has a special type of memory that maintains the date, time, and settings for built-in features,
such as parallel-port assignments (conguration). A battery keeps this information active when you turn
off the computer.
