TheCEmarkisaffixedtothisproducttoconfirmcompliancewiththefollowingEuropeanCommunity Directives:

• CouncilDirective2004/108/ECof15December2004ontheapproximationofthelawsofMemberStatesrelatingto

electromagneticcompatibility;

 and

• CouncilDirective2006/95/ECof12December2006ontheharmonizationofthelawsofMemberStatesrelatingto

electricalequipmentdesignedforusewithincertainvoltagelimits;

 and

• CouncilDirective1999/5/ECof9March1999onradioequipmentandtelecommunications

terminalequipmentand

themutualrecognitionoftheirconformity.



InternationalModemRestrictions

Somedialingandansweringdefaultsandrestrictionsmayvaryforinternationalmodems. Changingsettingsmay

causeamodemtobecomenon‐compliantwithnationaltelecomrequirementsinspecificcountries.Alsonote

thatsomesoftwarepackagesmayhavefeaturesorlackrestrictionsthatmaycausethemodemtobecomenon‐

compliant.

NewZealandTelecomWarningNotice

1. ThegrantofaTelepermitforanyitemofterminalequipmentindicatesonlythatTelecomhasacceptedthat

theitemcomplieswithminimumconditionsforconnectiontoitsnetwork.Itindicatesnoendorsementof

theproductbyTelecom,nordoesitprovideanysortofwarranty.Aboveall,itprovidesnoassurancethat

anyitemwillworkcorrectlyinallrespectswithanotheritemofTelepermittedequipmentofadifferent

makeormodel,nordoesitimplythatanyproductiscompatiblewithallofTelecom’snetworkservices.

Thisequipmentisnotcapableunderalloperatingconditionsofcorrectoperationatthehigherspeedwhich

itisdesignated.33.6kbpsand56kbpsconnectionsarelikelytoberestrictedtolowerbitrateswhen

connectedtosomePSTNimplementations.Telecomwillacceptnoresponsibilityshoulddifficultiesarisein

suchcircumstances.

2. Immediatelydisconnectthisequipmentshouldit becomephysicallydamaged,andarrangeforitsdisposalor

repair.

3. ThismodemshallnotbeusedinanymannerwhichcouldconstituteanuisancetootherTelecomcustomers.

4. Thisdeviceisequip pedwithpulsedialing,whiletheTelecomstandardisDTMFtonedialing.Thereisno

guaranteethatTelecomlineswillalwayscontinuetosupportpulsedialing.

Useofpulsedialing,whenthisequipmentisconnectedtothesamelineasotherequipment,maygiverise

to‘belltinkle’ornoiseandmayalsocauseafalseanswer condition.Shouldsuchproblemsoccur,theuser

shouldnotcontacttheTelecomFaultsService.

ThepreferredmethodofdialingistouseDTMFtones,asthisisfasterthanpulse(decadic)dialingandis

readilyavailableonalmostallNewZealandtelephoneexchanges.

5. WarningNotice:No‘111’orothercallscanbemadefromthisdeviceduringamainspowerfailure.

6. Thisequipmentmaynotprovidefortheeffectivehan d‐over ofacalltoanotherdeviceconnectedtothe

sameline.
