Configuring Syslog
You can configure where the system log messages are going to be sent and specify the lowest level
message that the Device Server will send syslog messages for.
Configure the following options:
Primary Host
Secondary Host
Level
Subnet/Prefix Bits
When the gateway is a Network gateway, you must specify the subnet/prefix
bits for that network. If the IP address is IPv4, then the Subnet/Prefix Bits
range is 0-32. If the IP address is IPv6, then the Subnet/Prefix Bits range is
0-128.
Gateway List
The list of defined gateways.
The first preconfigured host that the Device Server will attempt to send system
log messages to; messages will be displayed on the host’s monitor.
If the Device Server cannot communicate with the primary host, then the
Device Server will attempt to send system log messages to this preconfigured
host; messages will be displayed on the host’s monitor.
Choose the event level that triggers a syslog entry:
z Emergency
z Alert
z Critical
z Error
z Warning
z Notice
z Info
z Debug
When you select a
Level, all the levels that appear above it in the list also
trigger a syslog entry. For example, if you select
Error, all Error, Critical,
Alert, and Emergency events will be logged.
