Features
This manual explains the features described
below.
Running a presentation over a
network—Windows Vista® Network
Projector
Use of the Windows Vista® Network
Projector feature which is a standard
application of Windows Vista allows you
to run a presentation over a wireless or
wired* network.
*VPL-DX15 only
As the feature uses an application included
with Windows Vista, you need not install
additional software.
As this feature supports wireless
connection, no complicated cable
connection for a wired connection is
required.
Projecting a file stored in a
computer on a network directly—
Network File Viewer
The projector is supplied with the simplified
file viewer with which you can browse files.
Using these simplified file viewer, you can
browse the following files on a computer
over a network.
Microsoft Office file (PowerPoint/
Excel)
Photo file
Video file
For details on files you can browse, refer to
“Types of Files Available for Browsing” on
page 8.
Operating a computer from the
projector—Remote Desktop
The projector supports the Remote
Desktop feature included with Windows
operating systems.
If a USB mouse and USB keyboard
(alphabetic layout 101/102 keys) are
connected to the projector, you can control
the computer located at a remote site from
the projector. Commercially available
USB mouse, USB keyboard (alphabetic
layout 101/102 keys), and USB hub are
required.
Projecting a streaming video
delivered via a network—Video
Streaming
You can view a streaming video delivered by
a computer equipped with Windows Media
Encoder over a wireless or wired* network.
*VPL-DX15 only
Monitoring and operating the
projector via a web browser
You can monitor and operate the projector
from a computer via a web browser over a
wireless or wired* network.
*VPL-DX15 only
You can have e-mail sent notifying you of
lamp replacement timing and error
information for the projector to a
previously specified e-mail address.
Projecting files stored in a USB
memory—USB File Viewer feature
The projector is supplied with the simplified
file viewer with which you can browse files.
Using these simplified file viewer, you can
browse the following files stored in a USB
memory connected to the USB connector of
the projector without using a computer.
Microsoft Office file (PowerPoint/
Excel)
–Photo file
Video file
