Question Answer
At what radio frequency
does an AP
communicate?
In the U.S., wireless LAN radios transmit and receive
on one of 11 channels in the 2.4-GHz frequency band.
This is a public band, and does not require a license
from the FCC.
How do I secure the
data crossing an AP's
radio link?
Enable the Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) function
to encrypt the payload of packets sent across a radio
link.
What are possible
sources of interference
for the radio frequency
link of the AP?
Interference can come from a number of sources,
including 2.4-GHz cordless phones, improperly
shielded microwave ovens, and wireless equipment
manufactured by other companies. Police radar,
electric motors, and moving metal parts of machinery
can cause interference too.
How do I set the
Outdoor AP back to its
factory default
