Non-Standard (Custom) Paper Sizes
Non-standard paper sizes can be run from either SMH tray 3 or the optional HCF tray 4. When doing
so, the paper size programmed on the DocuColor 2045 / 2060 / 5252 must match the paper size
selected in the printer driver, as well as in the print options from the application. If there is a mismatch
between any of these dimensions, an error will occur.
To print on non-standard paper sizes using the Fiery EX2000, refer to the Fiery EX2000 Printing
Guide, which contains instructions for Windows 95 / 98 and Macintosh. For Windows NT, custom
sizes are defined using either the Page Setup or Advanced tabs for the EX2000 printer driver. On
either tab, select the “Postscript Custom Page Size” option and enter the dimensions. On occasion, a
previously spooled job may be required to run on a custom page size. In order to do this, right mouse
click on “Page Size” in the “Print Properties” menu screen and enter the point value equivalent (1” =
72 pts.) with page height first, followed by page width. For example, to run Xerox Digital Color Glossy
Tabs (9” x 11” Short Edge First (SEF)), a point value of “648.00pt x 792.00pt” would be entered. For
more information on loading and programming non-standard paper sizes, refer to the DocuColor
2045 / 2060 / 5252 Operator’s Manual and System Administration Guide.
Transparencies
Transparencies can be run only from SMH tray 3 yielding a 22.5 page per minute output. For more
information on loading transparencies, refer to the DocuColor 2045 / 2060 / 5252 Operator’s Manual.
Use only the recommended Xerox Digital Color Transparencies (3R5765) to ensure optimum image
quality and transmission efficiencies when projected. Overhead Projector (OHP) sizes are limited to
8.5”x11” in the US, and A4 in Europe.
To ensure consistent image quality and minimize streaking, only 500 transparencies should be run at
one time. If a larger run is required, it is recommended to break the job up into smaller ones and print
approximately 25-50 sheets of regular paper between sets to absorb any excess fuser oil.
Even though paper backed transparencies will run through the system, it is important to be aware
that productivity enhancements may be offset by image quality degradation. Even when run at the
slowest speed possible by selecting the 221-280 gsm for the weight, image quality on paper-backed
transparencies will likely be inferior to that which can be achieved by using the recommended
removable stripe transparencies and running them in the OHP mode.
Coated Papers
Coated papers have binders, adhesives, and pigments applied to their surfaces on one or both sides.
As compared to Xerox Digital Color Xpressions + 24 lb, coated papers will provide improved image
quality and gloss.
Coated papers are susceptible to humidity. Image mottle (light patches in solid area) or light images
overall will occur if paper is not kept packaged in environments with more than 40% humidity. To
avoid this, keep packages sealed and store unused paper in a resealable bag.
