Connecting a second monitor for video mirroring
You can connect a second, external monitor to your computer to display the
same images that are on the computer’s built-in monitor. Displaying your
computer’s images on a second monitor, called
video mirroring, is useful
for presentations.
If you want to use video mirroring, you need an external video connector
with an external monitor attached. (If your computer doesn’t have a
connector, you can install one.)
The built-in monitor must use the same resolution and timing as the external
monitor. Depending on what type of monitor you have added, you may need
to change the built-in monitor’s setting to one that the external monitor is
capable of displaying.
If you want to display your built-in monitor’s images on a standard TV or
record them using a VCR, you’ll need the Apple Presentation System, which
adds these capabilities when used with the external video connector kit. The
external video connector kit and the Apple Presentation System are available
for purchase from computer stores. (Some computers come with the Apple
Presentation System.)
For more information about the monitors that you can connect to your
computer for video mirroring, see the Tech n ical Information booklet that came
with your computer.
