Cleaning the Projector Case
Before you clean the projector case, turn off the projector and
unplug the power cord.
To remove dirt or dust, wipe the outside case with a soft,
dry, lint-free cloth.
To remove stubborn dirt or stains, moisten a soft cloth with
water and a neutral detergent. Then wipe the case.
Caution: Do not use wax, alcohol, benzene, paint thinner, or other
chemical detergents. These can damage the case.
Cleaning the Lens Cover Glass
Clean the lens cover glass whenever you notice dirt or dust on
the surface.
Use a canister of compressed air to remove dust.
To remove dirt or smears on the lens, use a commercially
available cloth for cleaning eyeglasses.
Caution: Do not use glass cleaner to clean the lens; this will
damage the lens coating.
Cleaning the Air Filter
Clean the air filter when you see any of the following
messages:
The air filter is clogged. Clean or replace the air
filter.
or Check or Replace the air filter. Dust clogs prevent
proper ventilation and can cause overheating and damage the
projector.
Note: If you installed the optional smoke filter, follow these same
instructions to clean it.
Follow these steps:
1. Turn off the projector and unplug the power cord.
2. Lift the air filter cover by pulling up the tabs.
3. To clean the filter, Epson recommends using a small
vacuum cleaner designed for computers and other office
equipment. If you don’t have one, gently clean the filter
using a very soft brush (such as an artist’s paint brush).
You can remove the filter to clean both sides.
Note: If the air filter has been stained by tobacco smoke, it
cannot be cleaned. Replace the filter as described below.
4. When you have finished cleaning the air filter, close the
cover and reset the timer as described on page 13.
5. If the dirt is difficult to remove or a filter is broken, replace
the filter as described in the next section.
